Environment Canada gave a heat alert Tuesday morning for the Montreal region as the humidex persists in climbing toward 40. 

The notice was also given for Gatineau and the Lanaudière province north of Montreal. 

In Montreal, the temperature on Tuesday is predicted to reach 28 C with a humidex of 37. On Wednesday, the humidex will get or even top 40.

Environment Canada gives a heat warning when very hot or humid circumstances present a high risk of heat-related diseases, such as heat stroke and fatigue.

The agency suggests scheduling outdoor activities during a perfect day to lower those risks.

Environment Canada predicts high temperatures till Sunday, but the specific humidex values for the week are not yet apparent.
