Woman dies after being stabbed in a fierce attack in Montreal

A female in her 20s has died after being stabbed Friday night in Montreal’s Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Montreal police have charged a 32-year-old man in link with the attack. 

Police were first called at about 7 p.m. regarding a fight in an apartment on Aylwin Street between Sherbrooke and Hochelaga Streets. 

When ambulance workers came to the scene, they saw the victim with at least one stab injury to her upper body, according to police. Police had stated Friday night that she was in a critical situation but clarified that her death was confirmed on the scene on Saturday morning.

A female in her 20s has died after being stabbed

Police found and charged the suspect not far from the flat. He was taken to hospital for damage to his hand and will meet with probers, police state. The SPVM set up a command post at the raid site, and investigators were still on-site Saturday morning.

The lady’s identity is still not confirmed, and the relationship between the victim and the suspect is unknown.

The woman’s demise is the fifth killing in the Montreal region this year, according to police.
